Ultrasonic Clamp-On Flow Meter for Water-Flow Monitoring

Kewintech Ultrasonic Clamp-On Flow Meter provides non-intrusive measurement of water flow without cutting, drilling or modifying the existing pipeline. Ultrasonic sensors are mounted externally on the pipe, helping avoid pressure loss, leakage risk and prolonged shutdown during installation.

The system can display instantaneous flow and accumulated total flow locally. Depending on project requirements, it can also communicate with SCADA, PLC, GPRS and cloud-monitoring platforms for centralized water-flow monitoring, reporting and alarm management.

Key Features

  • Non-intrusive clamp-on ultrasonic sensors
  • No cutting or modification of the pipeline
  • No obstruction or additional pressure loss
  • Instantaneous and accumulated-flow monitoring
  • Local display and keypad-based configuration
  • RS-485 Modbus communication support
  • GPRS, cloud and SCADA integration options
  • SMS and voice-call alerts for configured alarms
  • Industrial-grade controller enclosure
  • Customized configuration according to application

Installation Benefits

  • Water supply does not need to be interrupted for sensor installation
  • Suitable for existing pipelines and retrofit projects
  • Reduced leakage risk compared with intrusive flow sensors
  • Minimal maintenance and easy sensor accessibility
  • Useful where pipeline cutting is difficult or undesirable
  • Can be integrated with existing automation systems
  • Suitable for temporary as well as permanent monitoring
  • Remote data monitoring reduces frequent site visits

Remote Flow Monitoring and SCADA Integration

The flow meter can be integrated with a centralized control or monitoring system using RS-485 Modbus communication. Project-specific solutions may include GPRS connectivity, cloud dashboards, historical flow data, daily consumption reports and alarm notifications.

It can also be integrated with pump automation, water-distribution SCADA and IoT monitoring systems. This allows operators to compare pump operation with actual flow, identify abnormal flow conditions and monitor water distribution from a remote location.

Typical Applications

  • Municipal water-supply pipelines
  • Government water-distribution projects
  • Irrigation and agricultural pipelines
  • Pump houses and water-treatment plants
  • Industrial process-water monitoring
  • Building and campus water monitoring
  • Raw-water and clean-water pipelines
  • SCADA and remote-monitoring projects
  • Pipeline performance verification
  • Project-specific IoT water monitoring

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an ultrasonic clamp-on flow meter?

It measures liquid flow using ultrasonic sensors installed externally on a pipeline. The sensors do not come into direct contact with the flowing liquid.

Does installation require cutting the pipe?

No. Clamp-on ultrasonic sensors are installed on the outer surface of a compatible pipe, so the pipeline normally does not need to be cut.

Can the flow meter connect with SCADA?

Yes. The proposed system supports RS-485 Modbus communication and can be integrated with compatible PLC, SCADA and remote-monitoring systems.

Can flow data be monitored remotely?

Yes. GPRS and cloud-based remote monitoring can be provided according to the project requirement and selected communication configuration.

Which information is needed before ordering?

Pipe diameter, wall thickness, pipe material, liquid type, flow range, power supply and required communication details are needed for correct product selection.
